Featured on the Homo Faber Guide / Homo Faber Guide

I am deeply honored to have been recognized as an artisan by the Michelangelo Foundation in Switzerland, and my profile page is now live on the Homo Faber Guide, featuring photos of my workshop, my work, and an interview.

Established in 2016, the Michelangelo Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and passing down traditional crafts. Amidst a modern world driven by extreme advances in AI, digital technology, and mass production, the foundation champions a “new Renaissance” movement that redefines and restores the value of “making things by hand.”

The Homo Faber Guide showcases exceptional artisans, workshops, and museums from around the world. In the years of the Venice Biennale, the foundation also hosts Homo Faber, one of the world’s largest exhibitions of craftsmanship, and engages in passing down techniques and nurturing the next generation through fellowship programs.

Instrument making tends to lean heavily toward a product-oriented mindset, and in Japan, it is rarely treated within the context of craft or fine art. However, in the sense that it involves a dialogue with materials and technical mastery to deliver a diverse world of acoustic sensations, I feel it shares a deep connection with the broader context of craft and artistry. I am truly delighted to be introduced within this context.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Alisha Ivelich, who was of immense help during this interview process.
